What is Unlock the Music?

Unlock the Music is based around the singing teaching business of Lizzie Perring. Lizzie has been writing and singing her own songs for most of her life and also writes stories. She performs regularly and enjoys a range of creative collaborations.
Lizzie trained at the Colchester Institute and then added to her learning with further education based at Warwick University. For eighteen years she worked in the field of Special Educational Needs for Warwickshire County Council and then returned to her music to set up business. The music business soon kicked off and attracted lots of pupils and musical friends. Now Unlock the Music has a rolling programme of performances offering family entertainment for local communities. Pupils and friends of UTM get together to produce these concerts, giving everyone who wants to perform regular chances to do so. A typical UTM concert includes music dance and poetry. The range of music is very wide from renaissance to contemporary R&B and songs from the shows. At the moment we have two bellydancers who also sing.
Pupils

Lizzie pupils include Danielle Phillips who has collaborated with Billy Bongo to make a dance track and perform that at the Black Grape Club, Mel Conway, who is setting up a business providing singers for wedding ceremonies, Leila Mimmack, now a star of stage and screen, currently in "Becoming Human" the partner drama to "Being Human". Lizzie teaches from 9 years old and her oldest pupil currently in his 80s. Jennian King also teaches for UTM under Lizzie's supervision.
