My Methods

Over the years I have been constantly refining my method of singing teacher and I am having great results in supporting people to find their voices.

All of us need to carry on learning and practising, no matter what standard we reach. Understanding how your voice works and how your body must work to support your voice is a core part of what I offer. My pupils learn to work in a very focussed way.

Classical Tuition

With a basis of classical tuition many singers can go on to sing everything they have ever wanted to sing.

To really feel and hear what you are doing with your voice means that you can practise much more effectively.

Can I Sing?

We have all seen people come to the X-Factor auditions with embarrassing problems.

Sometimes these can be overcome and sometimes not. Some people have lovely voices but they will need stamina to cope with the pressures of practice. Getting to grips with vocal technique can be challenging.

I am having a lot of success freeing up peoples’ voices and supporting people to develop musically.

Mini Biog

My early training was classical. This gave me a solid foundation of insight into vocal production and technique.

I went on to become a singer song writer, composing and singing my own music in various bands and groups. I also sang in a medieval band, giving concerts in the West Country.

I experienced the complete loss of my singing voice following a throat operation in the 80s and learned how to restore my voice through careful exercising. This gave me a lot insight into the sensitivity of the vocal cords.

Never Give Up!

With care and regular good training your voice can become very robust. There is no reason why you cannot then carry on singing all your life. My own father did so, only just giving up when he was over 90.

Mr. Austin Wootton has been a pupil for some years now. At 80 he has the most remarkable robust voice. He plunges deep into his songs and delivers a passionate and committed performance, even in my living room!
