AUDITIONS AND PERFORMANCES
Many of us have unique voices.
Comparing one excellent voice to another is usually a matter of taste.
"Unlock the Music" encourages music making, experimentation, intensive practice and realistic musical aspirations.

Some of you want to take up music as your career. That means raising your game and taking steps to promote yourself. Singing lessons are only a part of this. I now believe that the basis for progression in singing is through what I am currently calling "The Three Staminas":
PHYSICAL STAMINA:
You need to be physically strong and healthy to breath well, feel good and keep yourself on top of the challenges.
MENTAL STAMINA:
You need a strong capacity for patience to apply yourself to routine practice; persistence to work at a very detailed level on your voice and your songs; and the resilience to cope with the many ups and downs. You need to want to entertain people. You need to love your voice and love singing.
VOCAL STAMINA:
Developed through the routine of careful and detailed practice, your voice needs to become robust, so that it can cope with nerves, tiredness, recover from illnesses and develop and expand your range and agility.
Of course you also need a lovely voice; a good sense of rhythm; a good choice of repetoire for your voice, sung in the correct key for your voice; and you need artistry to portray the messages in the music. You don't need to be the most beautiful contender or wear the sexiest outfit, but you do need to be and look totally committed to your performance. This is very hard to mimic. Unless you believe in what you are doing, people will ultimately see through you.
If you can’t do all this then keep music as wonderful hobby and avoid those desperately exhausting and potentially very disappointing audition experiences that can break your self esteem.
I hope that this is helpful.
