ENABLING MUSICAL IMPROVISATION
|
|
I have been committed to the art of musical improvisation for many
years now. I have used this as fundemental aspect of teaching piano to
beginners.
I have facilitated many special needs musical workshops and
jamming sessions and have enjoyed improvising with other musicians
myself, as a good way to discover new music or just have musical fun.
|
With young children there are many games that can re-inforce their
listening skills and their early learning of concepts such as Turn Taking,
Start/Stop, Fast/Slow, Loud/Soft and High/Low. |
|
Setting up and improvising around a rif or developing sound scapes for
story making and film are activities that can engage children of all ages and
ability.
|
Musical improvisations encourage group work skills and creativity. |
Music making can become a daily treasure, supporting learning in many curriculum areas. |
There are many ideas for story telling and composition.
|
|
I offer short courses to support teachers to develop a repertoire of exciting ways to involve children in music making.
