ENABLING MUSICAL IMPROVISATION

musicalfun2.jpg

I have been committed to the art of musical improvisation for many years now. I have used this as fundemental aspect of teaching piano to beginners.

CoolI have facilitated many special needs musical workshops and jamming sessions and have enjoyed improvising with other musicians myself, as a good way to discover new music or just have musical fun.

WinkWith young children there are many games that can re-inforce their listening skills and their early learning of concepts such as Turn Taking, Start/Stop, Fast/Slow, Loud/Soft and High/Low.

Laughing Setting up and improvising around a rif or developing sound scapes for story making and film are activities that can engage children of all ages and ability.

SmileMusical improvisations encourage group work skills and creativity.
KissMusic making can become a daily treasure, supporting learning in many curriculum areas.
WinkThere are many ideas for story telling and composition.

Cool I offer short courses to support teachers to develop a repertoire of exciting ways to involve children in music making.
