2008
This year I am recording my latest songs and working towards a story telling performance. In the future I plan to write more and work with fim making projects. It all takes time and I still work fulltime!!!!

 MY SONGWRITING NOTEBOOK:
(Click here to link to  the main selection of my songs on the homepage.)
The following tracks have been recorded at various venues over the last 10-15 years. Most are really no more than rehearsal tracks, so the quality of recording and performance is variable. I also write stories and there are connections between the songs and stories. I have pointed out a few. My aim here is to publish a diary of  my own creative process.

All are copyrighted to Lizzie Perring.

BREATHTAKERS:

Music created and recorded with Graham Weston. Click on the buttons below to hear our 2005/2006 rehearsal tracks:

Two tracks written in 2005 during a time of great change:-
I wrote this after handing my notice in!!

"Sanctuary" (Mini-MP3-Player 1.2 ©Ute Jacobi)

Sanctuary
I wrote this after walking with a friend in the fields.

"HighPastures" (Mini-MP3-Player 1.2 ©Ute Jacobi)

High Pastures

This Gothic track developed from improvisations with the celtic harp. It is still waiting further development. Currently ends with long Fripp Type improvisation. This song is partnered by a short story. Contact me if you would like to read it.

"lovemedo" (Mini-MP3-Player 1.2 ©Ute Jacobi)

Love me Do

Written c.1994, This song is full of imagery from my own and my childrens' childhood. I would like the ending to develop into a larger scale jazz style piece:-

"goodtimes" (Mini-MP3-Player 1.2 ©Ute Jacobi)

Good Times

Again from c. 1994, I read Ralph Ellison's "Invisible Man" and wrote this song, later naming a band after the book. This song has had many versions and in performance has a section from "Invisible Man" spoken over the ending improvisations. I can't print this due to copyright, but contact me if would like to know which section it is:-

"Hiding to Nothing" with Invisible Man c.1995

Taboo:
This a song that I wrote during my Masters degree and dedicated it to Don McCullin, war photographer, whose work I studied as part of my thesis. There have been several version of this song. Here are couple:

"taboosolo" (Mini-MP3-Player 1.2 ©Ute Jacobi)

"Taboo" solo

"taboooutpost" (Mini-MP3-Player 1.2 ©Ute Jacobi)

"Taboo" with Outpost (poor sound)

Angie:
My friend Angie Faulkner who died in a tragic accident, left behind her many unanswered questions. This track is a scrapbook recording of a song that I wrote about her.  I never took it further. (The ending needs editing out!!)

"houseofdreams" (Mini-MP3-Player 1.2 ©Ute Jacobi)

"House of Dreams" with Invisible Man
Contact me if you knew Angie and would like to read a short story I wrote for her.

"Dark Street" was written about 30 years ago. Here's a scrapbook recording from about 1994.

"Dark Street" with Melissa, Lizzie and Julian.

Additional Intension track:
"Shame" is an exciting  track that I really enjoy but in re-recording it I arranged to have small section deleted, as I disliked it. I'm not sure how succesful we were in smoothing over that edit.
